In Bari, Italy, the transformation of a professional space into a bioenergetic psychotherapy practice constituted a precise exercise in interior architecture and spatial reorganization.
DAIMON Design, a Franco-Italian architecture firm based in Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes, French Riviera), works between France and Italy on rehabilitation projects for professional spaces, private practices and commercial premises.
This project in Bari illustrates our ability to adapt an existing constrained space to make it a place coherent with its therapeutic function.
The existing premises had several limitations:
For a bioenergetic psychotherapy practice — a discipline that combines verbal work and body work — the space could not remain neutral.
It had to allow:
The intervention was based on three structuring actions:
1. Removal of internal partitions
The complete removal of the partitions made it possible to restore coherence to the initial geometry and to reorganize the circulations.
2. Maximum opening to the exterior
The installation of new French doors and a retractable picture window creates a direct continuity with the 30 m² terrace, offering an unobstructed view of the Adriatic Sea. Light becomes a central element of the spatial design.
3. Formal simplification
The project adopts a minimal vocabulary:
The space becomes modular, allowing alternation between individual sessions and body work.
The construction site included:
The work was carried out by Italian craftsmen, with particular attention to execution quality.
Construction cost: approximately €1,300/m²
This level of investment remains controlled considering the spatial transformation achieved and the qualitative repositioning of the practice.
A therapeutic practice is not just about aesthetic design.
It must integrate:
The intervention in Bari illustrates an approach where architecture directly supports the function performed.
